My trip to Malaysia is a time to meet up family members and friends. Before my trip to Penang I met up with my immediate family members and as usual we spend a lot of time together reminiscing about the good old days, but actually catching up on things. It has been 3 years since I was last back and our kids are now teenagers.
In a one occasion, I decided to take a trip to Mid Valley Mega Mall. I drove there on my own.
[This beings me to another story:
The week before that, I drove to a NAWEM Exco meeting with the aim of joining them for lunch and to give some of the members a surprise as only one of them knew I was back in Malaysia. I thought that I knew the route so well and I drove there. Low and behold!! I got lost!
The scenery has changed, there are more twists and turns, and road blockages and the landmarks have changed.
A trip that should take me 40 minutes the most took me 2.5 hours. I made so many wrong turns and went round and about 3 times before finally giving up. I parked in the nearest office/shop complex and bought myself a local SIM card for my phone. Then I rang the office for direction, refusing to put down the phone and getting directions until I reached there.]
While in the Megamall, I had a look around and found an interesting stall. It was selling egg in a stick.
It is omelette in a stick and it looks like sausages. It looks interesting. The worker had to pour in several rounds of eggs to the container in order to get the right shape/size. I did not purchase it as it is only an omelette in a fancy packing. Typical frugal me.
Then I went to the food court to have lunch. There was quite a variety of food ranging from Malay, Chinese, Indian, Western, Thailand, Penang, Bengali, etc, etc. I opted for pad thai and bubur cha-cha.
The pad thai was not ‘thai’ enough although it was so-so in taste. The bubur cha-cha was a total disaster, with a purple – ish ‘soup’ and some bits of sweet potato, yam and some sago. There was not enough coconut milk, or rather the coconut milk was not thick enough. Btw bubur cha-cha is a nyonya desert.
This is my food adventure in the Mid Valley Megamall.
Note:
Since going to Penang, I have been back and gone for a cruise. There are a lot of events, photos, places, etc. I am trying to make sense of it all so that I can blog about it and you can enjoy my posts.
Keep a look out. More stories to come. ( I have also taken photos in another phone so I need to get organised as well. Cheers!!
