This year is the year of the pig. This is my sister’s Chinese Zodiac sign.
I am planning to make my ‘Yu Sheng’ or Yee Sang, or raw fish Chinese New Year Salad in the shape of the pig. Last year, I made it in the shape of the dog.
However, I have run out of sweet bean curd stick so I am looking to use something else to give the crunch.! I have just got back from the supermarket and I am going to use sweet potato instead.
I am using my regular recipe for the Yu Sheng tomorrow. For now, we are having a simple reunion diner. Daughter number 2 is in University, so it is too far for her to return for the dinner. Sooo…….. we are sending her virtual Hung Bao ( Ang Pow, or red packets).
