Today we are making an easy dish, crispy fried tofu. There are only 4 easy steps and we use 5 main ingredients, and the best thing is that it is vegan. It is such a simple dish to make and it is good served as a snack too. It makes good finger food in parties. Tasty, handy and easy.

Eat and enjoy!
There are only 5 Main ingredients:
- Firm tofu or tow kua
- Flours : plain flour and corn flour
- 5 spice powder or spices of your choice
- Panko or Japanese bread crumbs
- Oil for frying
You can serve it with any dips or sauces. This time I use all the left-over dips from the take-away. It goes well with ketchup. chilli sauce, mayo, etc.

Crispy Fried Tofu In 4 Easy Steps

Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 block Firm tofu around 400g - Cut into to strips
- ¼ cup Plain flour
- ¼ cup Corn flour
- 1 cup Panko
- ½ tsp 5 spice powder
- or other spices if required
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 -3 cups Oil For frying
- Sauces to serve: sweet chilli sauce BBQ, mayo, etc
Instructions
Method:
Step1: Prepare the tofu
- Drain the tofu.
- Pat dry tofu and cut into strips. Pat dry again.
- Season the strips with salt and pepper, or your favourite seasoning.
Step 2: Prepare the batter
- Mix the flours and some salt and pepper with about 150ml of water. It should.be a bit thick.
- Mix well until no lumps and set aside
Step 3: Prepare the coating
- Mix the panko with the 5-spice powder, salt and pepper
Step 4: Fry the tofu
- Heat the cooking oil to180C.
- Coat the tofu strips with the batter.
- Remove and coat with the panko.
- Deep-fry until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon, drain and place on paper towels to absorb the excess oil.
- Serve with your favourite dips / sauces
- Enjoy!
